The 6th form block at Arnold Hill College on Gedling Road in Arnold was seriously damaged in a fire on Wed. night. Transient classrooms are being set up at the college and the damaged building is predicted to be pulled down over the next two weeks.
Police are looking into the event which is being treated as suspicious. A new permanent 6th form area will be built at the college though plans haven’t yet been drawn up. 8 fire crews spent 6 hours tackling the fire and damping down at the building.
The college related camping apparatus priced at more than £7,500 and used for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award scheme had been lost alongside private possessions of staff and scholars.
